Our third Coffee Chat of the academic year is happening on Friday, January 22nd, 2021 at 2:30 pm. Our guest speaker Laurence Thibault, is a language professor in the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at uOttawa. The discussion titled “Bodies that talk” will talk about incorporating dramatic arts into the language classroom.
Summary: How can theatre practice contribute to global communication in second language learning? Thanks to theatre games and techniques, learners of all ages create a learning community where linguistic objectives are anchored in a human and sensorial context that is both reassuring and motivating. We will explore several activities that facilitate the development of physical, vocal and linguistic abilities while considering the highly cultural nature of verbal interaction.
